Reanissance
In Valdarno
[
Susan Glasspool]

An exhibition for five masters. The Renaissance in Valdarno exhibition offers a wonderful chance to compare the exceptional masterpieces housed in the local museums with famous works of art from Florence’s major
museums and
churches. The works on display in the Museums of Sacred Art of Vallombrosa, Cascia di
Reggello,
Figline Valdarno,
San Giovanni Valdarno and
Montevarchi are of extraordinary importance and quality and mainly ascribable to the great artistic and cultural period of the
Renaissance that characterized 15th century in Florence, and whose fundamental forerunner was
Giotto, recognized as the father of Western art.
This comparison between masterpieces highlights the importance and quality of the works produced by the great masters for the churches in the territory, certainly not inferior to those carried out for the Florentine churches. The exhibition highlights and promotes the extraordinary flowering of the arts in Florence and Valdarno from the early 14th to the late 15th century.
