The Organizations Behind The Show
Second Hand Second Life
"Festival Della Creativita" which was organized by "Fondazione Sistema Toscana" and Regione Toscana hosted so many organizations, people and ideas from all over the world for four days. One of the most attended attractions of the festival was a fashion show with solidarity purposes.
In the show "Second Hand Second Life", the fashion students of Lorenzo de Medici took place with their works. LDM is an art and italian culture school which started its life 33 years ago. The school often participates to these type of events to create connection between the students and the world outside. The students exhibited their works made during the semester which were based on reutilizing and re-stylizing vintage clothes.
These vintage clothes were offered by
"Manitese" which is a non-governmental social organization. The main purpose of this organization is to give women and men a life full of dignity and free from exploitation and injustice, in full respect of human rights. Reuse and recycle are promoted by Manitese as a way of changing modern world's conception of the materialistic life style and also as a way of raising funds. In this fashion show, vintage clothes are reshaped with the help of
LDM students and sold through an auction. At the end of the auction, collected money was sent to children in need in
Guatemala through
Banca Etica.
Banca Etica's main purpose is to create a transparent management of financial resources with respect to human rights and ethical responsibility, regarding the non-economical consequences of the economical actions. For their new project in order to help children in Guatemala, this show was a great chance. Like the name of the show, second hand clothes helped the children in Guatemala to build a new life with the collected money.
The intense interest of the audience turned the show into a success. We hope that these kind of events continue to be promoted and through this they help the people in need in the future as well.
