Antiques: an absorbing passion

Adelightful way of spending a Saturday or Sunday morning is pottering around an antique fair or market.

There are huge markets in Siena (3rd Sunday of the month) and in Arezzo (1st Sunday of the month and the Saturday prior to it), and smaller ones held the countryside on specific occasions in the year.

Florence holds a fairly large market in Piazza Independenza (every 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month) and of course the Flea Market in Piazza de' Ciompi is fun any day of the week (it is also open on the last Sunday of the month).

Look out for these fascinating markets where you can find an amazing variety of things to buy and collect (and not necessarily huge!), and plenty of ideas for Christmas gifts.
