Events! Concerts! Exhibitions! Guided tours! You name it and this winter you can find it for Florence is going to be bustling with plenty of interesting events that are guaranteed to attract people of all ages. This year, thanks to the
Chamber of Commerce, a wide range of cultural events are on offer, centred around the theme of “where beauty brings more warmth than the sun”. Christmas lighting plays an important part in the event, from the huge traditional Christmas tree in
Piazza della Republica to the luminous decorations in the streets, while the lights placed between Ponte alle Grazie and
Ponte Santa Trinita are designed to recall the tragic 1966 flood. The Winter in Florence events include a series of
exhibitions, like the
Mind of Leonardo,
Visconti, Never Seen Before, Apoxyňmenos, Vu d’Italie 1841-1941 and many others, guided visits organised by the
Childrens’ Museum and Hortibus, tours of the frescoes in Santa Croce and Oil tasting. Trailers for performances at the Pergola, mime shows in shop windows alternate with several important concerts, a ballet season and a film festival. Sportswise the spectacular
Ponte Vecchio Challenge played from the ancient bridge onto greens on the Arno is a real highlight and last, but not least, Parterre hosts an ice rink for avid skaters. Children can instead make the most of Mudi Lab and the Childrens Museum.
