A European “factory” of performances, ballet, stages...
Fabbrica Europa

Young, fun and very contemporary could easily be one of the sub-titles for Fabbrica Europa, a spectacular event held every May at the old Leopolda Station, though it is greatly appreciated by the not-so-young as well.
Here you can find display stands and demonstrations alongside coffee bars, pubs and places where you can just sit, relax and read a book. Other areas are dedicated to live performances, concerts, ballet, readings, videos or variety and, on the various stages set up in the enormous space of the Leopolda, you can often find more than one performance going on at the same time.
Science, Art, New Technology, Images and the Body - this year's all-embracing theme - can interest young and old and certainly stimulate even newer ideas! The circulation of contemporary forms of expression, together with the debate between the identity and differences in modern society, highlight the problems that effect not only the arts but also the sciences.
Artists are therefore asked not to avoid the issue, but exploit modern technology with open-minded creativity, thus exploring the hidden mechanisms behind all knowledge, to produce emotions, reactions and more emotions. Fabbrica Europa asks its artists to examine and experiment to the full, in depth, and use, when required, the technical means of their choice.
Art and science are therefore explored using the body to express the future through acting, dancing, singing and writing. A form of research that has been used and shared by generations of artists. Although the arts and science are often placed in opposition, they are really closely connected in their forms of expression, experimentation and diffusion.
Workshops and laboratories are used to prepare and rehearse, a factory for shared research and experimentation, while the public is asked to examine rather than consume. A laboratory of ideas and emotions, thoughts and actions, live art and knowledge, creativity and commitment. This is Fabbrica Europa 2006 and it is sure to bring plenty of surprises!
