If you like playing, or simply watching golf, you will find it absolutely fascinating to follow this match, perhaps the most unusual in the world, played directly from the Ponte Vecchio onto various greens strategically anchored to the bed of the Arno. The game in fact consists in hitting the ball from a tee on the Ponte Vecchio to try and centre the pin on the three floating platforms or raftsanchored in the middle of the river at a distance of 70, 120, 180 mt. Some of the best professional and amateur golf players in the world take part in these tournaments, divided into several cateories and entitled the Ponte Vecchio Challenge. The winner bags a prize of 50.000,00 euro in cash (with other prizes for the runners-up) and qualifies for the Italian championships.
