Pitti Immagine Uomo is the trade fair of men’s fashion - clothing, accessories, objects - that opens the European and international calendar of trade fairs in the textiles and clothing sector every year. This great fashion event, which is always a very special occasion in Florence, is organised by Pitti Immagine and sponsored by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana.
Now in its 68th season, it is a world preview of trade fairs in this sector, presenting the dynamic reality of contemporary men’s fashion.
The event presents a cross-section of the market, from the classic to the informal and avant-garde, culminating in high fashion collections offering both strong images and product content.
The major foreign reference markets are Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Spain, France and the United States. There is a noticeable increase in buyers from the Far-East (Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan), from Eastern Europe and the Scandinavian countries, as well as the first buyers from China, together with customers from Australia, the Middle East and South America.
There is a constant increase in applications from new brands to take part in the fair, a large number of which herald from northern Europe and are specialised in the casual sector in particular.
Pitti Immagine Uomo explores the styles and trends in contemporary men’s fashion in 10 sections, divided into three broad categories: Classic (Pitti Uomo, Futuro Maschile, Uppercasual, Affinità Elettive), Informal (Sport & Sport, Informal, Urban Panorama), and the Avant-garde (L’Altro Uomo, Fashion/Design).
During the 4 days of Pitti Immagine, Florence becomes the international capital of fashion. This is most noticeable in the city centre, where all the fashion people meet up at the end of the working day giving life to a definitely international and glamorous atmosphere. Models, designers, buyers, journalists and many other interesting people flock through the streets, admiring the shop window displays and fill all the bars and cafés.
The boutiques selling the top fashion brands in the old city centre contibute towards this trendy design-like atmosphere by transforming their windows into works of art dedicated to this fascinating event.
Enthusiasts should look out for the shops offering the brand names at the show to pick out and buy the latest arrivals (and bargains!).
NavyskyTarek Hassanien founded Navysky in 1994 as an exclusive fashion consulting agency that discovers new talent in Italy and throughout the world. Located in Piazza Piattellina, the artisan neighborhood of San Frediano, it serves as a point of reference between designer, manufacturer, agents and sales points developing each selected project in the company’s graphics lab, multi-media design center, advertising, marketing, distribution and exhibition planning divisions. In 1999 he opened Spazio Disponibile, an exhibition space and laboratory of contemporary communication aimed to stimulate the urban fibre of the popular quarter and further his passion for discovering and exhibiting new artists from all over the world. Pioneering crossover concepts of Tuscan and Mediterranean food, the “O!O” blends design, music, art and organic art food” to create a ‘contemporary’ experience.
