Tenax Light ShowDont’ lose the card! How to survive in a Florence Club

Clubbing Experience
[Hugo McQueen]

Oh the nightime is the rightime!Clubbing in Florence is a really fun experience incomparable to any other. However, the system to get in and out of clubs can be very confusing and frustrating if you have never done it before.
When entering a club the doorman will give you a card, wich serves as your drink card and cloackroom.
Don’t lose this card!!!

It will be your key to exit, wich at the end of the night you will pay at the cash register and exchange for a receipt to exit. We cannot stress how important it is not to lose this card.
To do so means a bunch of angry doormen and a big fine. Especially if you are a man! And foreign. Just be careful. Most of clubs are free entrance for international students.

Here it is my Top 5 Florence’s Clubs:

TENAX – Via Pratese 46a
A littlebit outside of Florence (it is situated close to the Airport), this bi-level club extravaganza is definetly worth the trip. Laden with dancers, dragqueens and plenty of dancing mamiacs, this is a good place to spend Friday or Saturday Night. The music is a fab, and the clientele are outrageous.
So check it out some Friday. There is a good chance you will see me there.

YAB - Via Sassetti 5r
Another trendy basament-type club right in the centre of town. Always busy, partycularly on Friday and on Saturday nights with Monday night hosting a cool hip-hop DJ that calls out students starved for good dancing tunes. For a real Florentine night, Thursday is the best.

CENTRAL PARK – Parco delle Cascine. One of the largest club in Florence (last year i met here my girlfriend…) this strobe- lit bumping vebue goes off on Friday and Saturdays in a typical Italian club way. The music is not the best, but good space and good drinks make for a good time. Open air when the weather gets warm wich makes a lot of fun summer nights.
Be careful girls: italian playboys are everywhere...

DOLCE VITA - Piazza del Carmine 6r
It is not really a Club, but I love music and dancing in this place!
Looking for a good way to celebrate making it over “hump day” every week? Well head down to Dolce Vita every Wednesday night for a guaranteed good time. Dolce Vita is a nice place to hit up with friends any night of the week (except Monday when it is closed), but Wednesday is definitely the most popular night. Located just south of the river in the Piazza del Carmine, Dolce Vita never disappoints. You can always expect to hear great music to chill out to inside with an always changing rotation of DJs from around the world. But many opt for the open air tranquilty of the outside patio where you’ll find a great mix of Italians and students from abroad. Dolce Vita is a bit classier than most bars, so you might want to wear something nice. If you are wanting to get a quick bite to eat while you drink get there between 7:30 and 9:30 as munchies are free with your drink. Every Wednesday they have a special deal; 2 cocktails for 10 euro. But they wont remind you of this fact so make sure you ask. I have to say they do make quite a nice cocktail.
Try a mojito with vodka, bartender JP’s favorite drink.

FULL UP – Via della Vigna Vecchia 21r.
Basament type club with music made for 80’s revivalist.
Cool lookink piano bar with fun lounge acts, sometimes even karaoke. Girl beware: groping and cheep feals are abundant therefore bringing a big muscled friend may be a good idea!
