So many benefits for such a little ticket Iris Ticket

The Tourist Boards of Florence and Prato, in cooperation with the departments of transports of the two provincial governments, with Trenitalia, the Italian railways, and with many bus companies serving the area, have created a brand new ticket, called Iris Ticket, which entitles the owner to travel with no limits but time ones within the provinces of Firenze and Prato.The partners of the project are the following bus companies: CAP, COPIT, SITA, Autolinee Fratelli LAZZI, Puccioni Bus, Fratelli Alterini Autoservizi, Autoservizi Marradi, Florentiabus spa, LI.NEA, Fratelli Magherini, Renieri, A.L.A. Trenitalia’s partnership concerns only interregional, regional and direct trains. Within Florence Iris Ticket is also valid on the City Sightseeing tourist buses.
Iris Ticket exists in two versions: valid for 1 day (and it costs € 8,00) or 3 days (at the price of € 23,00). For children from 4 to 12 years there is a reduced ticket, which costs € 5,00 for 1 day and € 12,00 for 3 days. Iris Ticket has been conceived especially for tourists staying in the surroundings of Florence who want to use public means of transport, and can prove really good value for foreign students living in Florence for a few weeks.
The Iris Ticket project has actually transformed a simple bus and train ticket into a card which entitles the owner to a whole set of discounts and benefits for museums, exhibitions and theatres both in Florence and Prato.
The museums and galleries of both Florence and Prato have been extremely liberal in their agreement to the project, and the useful leaflet coming with the ticket has the complete list of benefits associated to it, comprising the major and most renowned museums of the city together with the less known, but precious little museums of surroundings, opened in the past few years and closely linked to the local cultural system. Also the most important theatres of Florence and Prato take part in the project with interesting discounts for their shows. Apart from all this, Iris Ticket also entitles the owner to take part in a series of thematic itineraries specially conceived for most curious and well-informed tourists (the artistic craftsmen of the Oltrarno, the traditional food markets of Florence, Montelupo Fiorentino and its pottery, etc.).
Everybody should also be aware that Iris Ticket is still a work in progress, and there are many new benefits coming in the future.
Iris Ticket can be bought at the ticket booths of all the above mentioned bus societies, at train stations in Florence and its surroundings, and at the tourist information offices in Florence and Prato.
