Two Months in Gigs
[Pietro Salvadori]

felix da housecatFlorence nightlife thoroughly deserves its growing reputation. Over the past two decades or so the new wave rock band of the ‘80s and the lively house club scene of the ‘90s have earned the city international attention, and it’s perhaps only natural that Florence is frequently visited by artists of international fame and housing numerous gigs that covers a great range of musical tastes from House to Jazz from IndieKidz nights to FashionVictims parties.
For old fashioned rock’n’roll fans Florence is pleased to house two important gigs: the legendary Patty Smith who will be playing at Saschall the 26th of October (gate 9pm) on the way of her Trampin’ Tour following the realization of her last wonderful record and, back in the land of the living, Bryan Adams staging at Parco delle Cascine the 4th of September for an MTV Live Night.
If you’re found of Jazz the BZF space (bookshop by day club by night) will have Michela Lombardi Quintet one of the most appreciated italian jazz realities on the 21st September and on the 24th S.P.A. Experimental Group (Jazz bordering on FunkPunk).
For House lovers Tenax (the notorious club) will organize three big Dj sets: on October the 25th with Felix Da HouseCat, on the 30th Deep Dish and Halloween Party (31st) with Claude Challe.
One last tip about World Music: Auditorium Flog (for the Musica dei Popoli Festival) will display an October program full of African Ethnic Music with female artists from Camerun to Mali.
And if it’s not enough, remember, this is just a part of the gigs you will see this fall.
Stay tuned for more.
See you around.
